The last two days have been a real testament of why I want to buy a house in Texas!  Thursday night the temperature plummeted and yesterday we had four inches of Snow.  The temp is in the teens and it is freezing!

On what would normally be a great day to sew in my attic, I find that I must drag it all downstairs so we don't get another $500 heating bill.  So maybe the sewing room in the attic was a good idea when prices were down and now not so much!  Oh well.

Dontcha love my picture-birthday card?  A portrait of me, Larry and little Faith.. Im the big one in the middle...Larry is on the right...what precious memories.  I sure wish I could post the recording of their rendition of Happy Birthday.  It was so fun and Larry and I listened to it repeatedly last night.

So no big plans for the weekend.  Sewing...working on Etsy....same ol same ol.   BUT, Larry treated me to my favorite restaurant for my birthday last night.  We went to Bass Pro (which I hate with all my being), but the restaurant there is awesome!  I had jumbo shrimp in a pasta and cream sauce that was so yummy!

If you are like me, you have orphan blocks in piles.  Consider using some of them up for gifts.  They might make cute wall hangings, or even bags...go green with a bag made of one large or several small blocks you just didn't like or never finished!  Happy Quilting!

A Rare and Beautiful Moment

It is a rare and beautiful moment that I have all 3 of my cats in one place at the same time, and all of them willing to look at the camera!  This shot took six tries, but I finally got one that worked.  They are such fun and such a delight...except when they want attention and then they can drive a person nuts!

Today is my birthday and I have been blessed to receive greetings from many of my friends and most of my family.  I got a bright and early call from Larry, then Lauren called twice.  A surprise phone call from Jeff in Japan came right as I was leaving for a meeting, so I'm glad I didn't miss it!  I came home from the meeting to a special voice mail message where 3 of my grandchildren serenaded me the traditional birthday song.  What a hoot!  I guess no matter how old you get, those cards and personal greetings never get old.  I actually received a portrait made by my grand daughter, Faith.  It is so precious...I will post tomorrow...I really am blessed with good friends and a wonderful family!  Thanks for lunch and supper Cheryl!  Potato soup and American Idol were just what this birthday girl needed tonight.

A hanging shoe caddy makes a great see-at-glance fat quarter holder!  Look for these caddies at discount and home improvement stores.

Love to be Loved!

Isn't this a sweet Valentine? Made by our Ben's 3 children; Braden, Faith and Ellie...of course with the creative help from mommy, Stacey. I love these homemade items and cherish them. Thought I would share with you some love from my family!

I have to work on taxes today. I don't want to do that, but do it I must, so my time with my computer is very limited today!

"Quilting Tip of the Day"
Do you ever use the little mini irons? They are great, but they get HOT! Mine never will stand up on its little "stand", so I use one of those silicone hot pats to rest it on while not in use. It wont slip or slide and no balancing is needed! Happy Quilting!
