I actually dusted off (and washed out) my old canning kettle and made some sour cherry jam today! I'm looking at it and wondering if I really made jam, or maybe its syrup...whichever, it will be yummy. I know cuz I licked the pan when they were done cooking. YUM! It took both me and Larry to get the jars out of the water. I cant find my tongs....I keep wondering if maybe I pitched them thinking I never do any canning anymore (never say never) and I'm done with hot dogs...ya think??? I'm always nervous about if it will gel or not. The jars did all seal though. I love the "ping" "ping" "ping" sound of the lids sealing themselves after their boiling hot water bath. I only have the six jars, so why am I making such a big deal out of this?. There was a day that I spent days in the kitchen about this time of year, canning pickles, tomatoes, and jams...wow..that was a hot job! Maybe I did throw away my tongs!
